School administrators are in the thick of decision making for the reopening of school in the fall. With so many moving parts to consider the CDC (Center for Disease Control) has provided a tool to assist in determining when and what must be considered.

Healthy hygiene with frequent hand washing is a must. The CDC is also recommending cloth face masks be used to slow down the spread of the virus and help people who don’t know they have the virus from transmitting it to others.

Recent studies show a significant portion of individuals with coronavirus lack symptoms (asymptomatic) or eventually develop symptoms (pre-symptomatic) can transmit the virus. Cloth face masks in combination with social distancing will inhibit the spread of the virus that happens via speaking, coughing, or sneezing (even with no symptoms) between people interacting in close proximity.

Do children need masks? Where can I find them and how do I know they are the right ones?

Recommendations to wear face masks apply to anyone over 2 years of age. They should be cloth masks that can be washed frequently. Surgical masks or N-95 respirators are not recommended by current CDC guidance for regular citizen use.

Many pop-up businesses can provide cloth masks but how do you know they are the right ones? Schools and parents can rely on their trusted school apparel partner, Booster Spirit Wear, to source quality face masks appropriate for children’s use.

We see you, superhero administrators. Keep fighting the fight for goodness in the world and being the protector over the little ones in your care.
